BOOK CLUB OFFERINGS: A rock ’n’ roll saga, a network of female spies, an ancient Chinese language, a real-life adoption scandal or the story of a true World War II heroine. What shall we read first?
The Alice Network by Kate Quinn (2017)
Set in the chaotic aftermath of World War II, American college girl Charlie St. Clair is pregnant, unmarried, and on the verge of being thrown out of her very proper family. She's also nursing a desperate hope that her beloved cousin Rose, who disappeared in Nazi-occupied France during the war, might still be alive. Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid (2019)
A gripping novel about the whirlwind rise of an iconic 1970s rock group and their beautiful lead singer, revealing the mystery behind their infamous break up.
Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go-Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See (2005)

Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate (2017)

Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly (2016)
Inspired by the life of a real World War II heroine, this debut novel reveals a story of love, redemption, and secrets that were hidden for decades. New York socialite Caroline Ferriday has her hands full with her post at the French consulate and a new love on the horizon. But Caroline’s world is forever changed when Hitler’s army invades Poland in September 1939—and then sets its sights on France.
